Fit Disclaimer
Because all bodies are unique and many designs are made-to-order, Black Veil Bridal Studio cannot guarantee perfect fit without professional measuring. We strongly recommend measurements be taken by a tailor or seamstress when possible.
Custom items are made using the measurements provided. Please double-check your measurements carefully before submitting.
How to Measure (Step-by-Step)
1) Bust
Measure around the fullest part of the bust (usually across the nipples), keeping the tape level across the back.
2) Underbust
Measure directly under the bust, where the bra band sits.
3) Waist (Natural Waist)
Measure the smallest part of the waist (not the belly button).
Usually found about 1–2 inches above the belly button.
4) High Hip
Measure around the body about 3–4 inches below the natural waist.
5) Full Hip
Measure around the fullest part of the hips and booty.
6) Hollow to Hem (Height)
Measure from the hollow at the base of the throat (collarbone dip) down to the floor.
7) Shoulder to Waist
Measure from the top of the shoulder (near the neck) straight down to the natural waist.
8) Bicep
Measure around the widest part of the upper arm.
9) Armhole
Measure around the shoulder area where a sleeve would sit (this one helps with comfort/mobility).
10) Sleeve Length (If applicable)
Measure from shoulder seam point to wrist.
11) Back Width
Measure across the back from one armpit area to the other.
Custom Fit Option (Recommended for Best Results)
If your measurements don’t match one single size, custom sizing is strongly recommended, especially when:
- Bust fits one size but hips fit another
- You’re tall/petite and need a proportional adjustment
- You want a snatched fit through corset or structured bodice
- You have a fuller bust/arms and want comfort + mobility
🖤 Black Veil Bridal Studio specializes in size-inclusive custom fit, and we never want you to feel forced into a “standard mold.”
Extra Sizing Notes (This helps reduce returns/disputes)
Corset Back Dresses
Corset styles allow more flexibility and can fit across a wider range:
- Typically adjustable by 2–4 inches
Zipper Back Dresses
Zippers are less forgiving, so we recommend:
- choosing size based on your largest measurement
- leaving space for breathing + movement
Fabric Matters
Some fabrics are forgiving; some are not:
- ✅ Stretch satin / stretch lace: more flexibility
- ❗ Non-stretch satin / stiff tulle / structured bodices: size accuracy matters more
